Hong Kong Show Opens With Record Number of Exhibitors

RAPAPORT... Organizers of the 30th HKTDC Hong Kong International Jewellery Show said the event opened today with a record number of exhibitors, totaling 3,300 from 49 countries and regions. For the first time, jewelry exhibitors were on hand from Cyprus, Lebanon and Peru.

In addition, there were 90 buying missions scheduled to attend the show, representing 5,000 companies and more than 6,500 buyers. The list includes Australia's Leading Edge Jewellers, Canada's The Shopping Channel, India's Future Group, Japan's Mitsuwa Co. Ltd., Kazakhstan's Kazakhyuvelir, Russia's Moscow Jewellery Plant, Saudi Arabia's Al Sowyan Co. Ltd. and Singapore's On Cheong Company.

The Israeli diamond industry organized its largest presence to date at this show, featuring 90 companies at the Israel Diamond Pavillion. Other Israeli firms were set up in the Chancellor Room, Hall of Nature and Hall of Fame. Additionally, the Antwerp World Diamond Centre, the International Colored Gemstone Association, the Japan Jewellery Association, the Japan Pearl Exporters' Association and the Platinum Guild International were well represented.

The Hong Kong Show created 10 featured product zones to browse, which included the Hall of Fame and Hall of Nature, as well as the Hall of Extraordinary,  the World of Glamour,  the Hall of Chic, the Hall of Time, the Exclusive Showroom, Designer Galleria, the Hall of Jade  and the Antique & Vintage Jewellery Galleria.

The new ''small-order'' zone was established at the Expo Drive Entrance, for the purpose of offering smaller quantities of jewelry for purchase, consisting of orders of between five and 500 pieces and at prices below $1,000 per piece.
