Press Release: PhotoScribe's LMS excimer lasers are the industry standard for normal high contrast carbon inscription on diamond girdles. Increasingly, labs and brand owners have expressed interest in the ability to economically inscribe low contrast “invisible” inscriptions. To date, these inscriptions have required prohibitively expensive equipment for marking as well as a specialized optical set up and illumination to see the mark. For this reason, this capability has been limited to uses such as De Beers Forevermark®.

PhotoScribe's LMS650XS is able to inscribe both high contrast carbon inscriptions as well as low contrast low carbon “invisible” inscriptions at an economical price for the first time. The LMS650XS gives labs and brand owners the ability to:

--Inscribe multiple areas of diamonds, such as the table or crown facet
    --Expand branding capabilities
--Provide security and traceability via “invisible” encoded barcodes

PhotoScribe’s low contrast inscription differs from De Beers Forevermark in that it is a slightly larger and deeper inscription and therefore does not require specialized optics and illumination to see. This allows visibility with jewelers’ standard microscopes and dark field illumination.

David Benderly, the president of PhotoScribe Technologies, said, "We are very excited about the latest revision of our laser system LMS-650XS. PhotoScribe prides itself by not only having the smallest excimer laser in the world but also having the most technically advanced system. We have made many upgrades in both hardware and software giving our customers greater capabilities and functionality of the system while significantly reducing the cost to inscribe a stone."
