RAPAPORT... UBM Asia confirmed that it has so far registered 176 exhibitors  to participate in the  inaugural Singapore Jewellery & Gem Fair scheduled for  October 12 to 15 at the  Marina Bay Sands. Organizers plan to host at least 200 exhibitors and they expect the show will attract high-net-worth-individuals as well as buyers from the trade.

Paul Wan, the managing director for UBM Asia's trade fairs division, said, "Singapore is nestled in the heart of Asia and presents tremendous business opportunities for jewellers to showcase their products and capture the consumer demand in Singapore. Singapore is also home to 91,200 high-net-worth-individuals and will continue to be one of the top cities of choice for the world's wealthy. Alone, ASEAN's combined wealth is reported to be worth over $1.24 trillion. We observe that wealthy Asians have moved away from traditional investments towards 'passion investments' such as jewelry. We already have the world's largest fine jewelry show in Hong Kong and hope to replicate its success in Singapore."

The Singapore Jewellery & Gem Fair is endorsed by the Singapore Jewellers Association and the Diamond Exchange of Singapore.
