RAPAPORT... Endiama confirmed that registration for its two-day diamond conference scheduled for this week has reached capacity at 800 attendees. The conference will host officials from diamond-producing nations, explore and debate opportunities for diamond prospecting and diamond-mining investment potential.

Fyodor Andreev, the president of ALROSA, will be the opening speaker on June 20 in Luanda.  ''Angola has been a strategic partner of ALROSA for many years. In addition to the success in existing operations we see further potential for our mutual cooperation in the years to come. We believe that huge geological upside is possible in Angola and the probability of new findings is high. The growth of diamond mining operations in Angola will create new value for the country and improve the quality of life of all its people.''

Carlos Sumbula, the chairman of Endiama, said, ''While we have benefited from public support, additional steps need to be taken to encourage the private sector to invest in diamond mining operations and companies. Around 60 percent of the Angolan territory is still open for prospecting and we welcome investors to develop these resources for the benefit of the people of Angola.''

Additionally, Endiama stated that the conference has attracted a broad range of speakers, including Eli Izhakoff, the president of the World Diamond Council, Ahmed Bin Sulayem, the chairman of the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre, Vipul Shah, the chairman of the Gems & Jewellery Export Promotion Council, Stephane Fischler, the  president of the Antwerp World Diamond Centre, Abbey Chikane, the first chair of the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme, Peter Meeus, the chairman of the Dubai Diamond Exchange, Lin Qiang, the president of the Shanghai Diamond Exchange, Reuven Kaufman, the president of the New York  Diamond Dealers Club  and Mark Van Bockstael, the chair of the working group of diamond experts for the Kimberley Process. The event ends on June 21.
