India Approves Trademarks for TDF, Jia Diamonds, Gaja Lites, Diyaan

RAPAPORT... Intellectual Property India, which oversees patent designs, trademarks and industry policy, issued a number of trademarks for companies in the diamond and jewelry industry on June 10.

TDF Diamond Factory Pvt. Ltd. of Mumbai  received approval for the trademark ''TDF'' (number 2127649). The company filed for the trademark on April 8, 2011 and has been using it since August 27, 2008.

The description of the trademark falls under the Class 14 definition and includes precious metals and their alloys, and goods in precious metals or coated therewith, not included in other classes, jewelry, precious stones, homological and chronometric instruments.

Jia Diamonds of Chandigarh, India was granted the trademark for its company name ''Jia Diamonds''  (number 1762506), which has been in use since May 21, 2008. Jia Diamonds is a manufacturer, exporter and wholesaler of diamond jewelry.

Shree Ganesh Jewellery House Ltd. of Kolkata, India received a trademark for ''Gaja Lites'' (number 2334207), which has been in use since August 1, 2011. The company filed for the trademark on May 18, 2012.

The description of the Gaja Lites trademark includes jewelry ''of all kinds, medallions in platinum, gold, silver, studded/unstudded, with/without precious, semiprecious stones and/or diamonds in Class 14.''

Creative Gems and Jewellery Pvt. Ltd. of Mumbai, India was granted the trademark Diyaan (DEVICE OF DIAMOND) (number 2339439) with Class 14 classification. The company filed for the trademark on May 29, 2012.

Deepak Zaveri & Co. of Ahmedabad, India received a trademark for its jewelry ''Direct'' label (number 1242155) under Class 14. The application was filed on October 9, 2003. Deepak Zaveri & Co.  manufactures  gold, diamond and silver jewelry and coins.
