Press Release: Now is the cushion-cut diamond’s time to shine. Lauded for its beauty since the late 19th century, the cushion cut -- also called a pillow cut -- was already regaining popularity when diamond architect Brian Gavin decided to take the timeless cut to the next level.

Earlier this month, Brian Gavin Diamonds released the Brian Gavin Signature Cushion Cut Diamond with Hearts and Arrows. With the highest degree of optical symmetry and as many facets as a typical round stone, this diamond produces the highest sparkle factor available in a cushion cut and allows even lower-color-grade stones to appear much whiter. diamond cut

"A cushion-shaped diamond with round brilliant faceting provides the highest levels of brilliance and dispersion," said Peter Yantzer, the head of the American Gem Society Laboratory, the foremost authority on diamond grading and light performance.

The Brian Gavin Signature Cushion Cut Diamond has 58 facets, producing in a cushion cut the effect of the round brilliant -- regarded as the most brilliant cut -- and Brian Gavin’s signature hearts and arrows patterning assures the maximum sparkle factor and a brilliance exceeding stones of other shapes.

Another key design feature of this diamond is its uniform girdle. Many cushion-cut diamonds have uneven girdles. The unevenness adds additional carat weight to the diamond without visibly increasing the face up size of the diamond. The Brian Gavin Signature Cushion Cut Diamond’s girdle guarantees there is no loss of faceup size.

These features make this new take on a timeless cut an instant classic.
