RAPAPORT... The September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Show opened today at AsiaWorld Expo (AWE), one of two venues hosting the seven-day event. AWE will showcase diamonds, jewelry, raw materials, equipment and packaging from September 11 to 15, while the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre will exclusively showcase finished jewelry from September 13 to 17.

Fair organizer UBM Asia reported that 3,633 exhibitors from 48 countries and regions are participating in the show, 1,350 of which are Hong Kong companies. UBM Asia expects more than 52,000 buyers to attend the event throughout the week.

“The September Fair is the preeminent jewelry fair for the industry and provides the greatest product range for buyers worldwide,” said Celine Lau, the director of jewelry fairs for UBM Asia. “The fair’s steady growth indicates the exhibitors’ confidence in the fair as an effective marketplace and platform to tap into the lucrative Asian markets.”

More than 430 diamond companies and approximately 740 gemstone companies are participating in the show. There are 22 group pavilions between the two venues, including those from Belgium, Brazil, China, Columbia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Poland, Singapore, Spain, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, U.S. and the International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA).
