RAPAPORT... Gem Diamonds recovered a rare blue,12.47-carat diamond and an 83.8-carat exceptional-quality white diamond from its Letšeng mine in Lesotho in September.

The blue diamond (pictured) was recovered from the main pipe, while the larger diamond was recovered at the satellite pipe. Both diamonds will be sold at Letšeng's upcoming tenders in Antwerp and are expected to achieve strong prices, according to the company.

"Letšeng continues to recover large, white, largely undamaged diamonds on a relatively consistent basis as well as the occasional rare blue or pink diamond," said Gem Diamonds' CEO, Clifford Elphick.

The company expects to recover more rare diamonds during the remainder of this year as mining at Letšeng focuses on the high-value and high-grade satellite pipe.
