Press Release: At the conclusion of Israel Diamond Week, which brought more than 100 Israeli companies to trade at the New York Diamond Dealers Club (DDC), our president Reuven Kaufman released a proclamation from New York City's Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg designating the period November 11 to 14, 2013, as “Israel Diamond Exchange and Diamond Dealers Club Week.”

The key paragraphs of Bloomberg’s proclamation read:

WHEREAS: Manhattan’s 47th Street is New York’s “Diamond District,” where jewelers from across the globe can find not only inspiration, but also their fellow casters, artisans, stone dealers, and vendors hard at work.  This week, the venerable Diamond Dealers Club – founded in 1931 and now one of the foremost diamond exchanges in the world – welcomes representatives from more that 100 companies belonging to the Israel Diamond Exchange.  A series of events will bring together industry leaders, and give this distinguished international group the chance to form even more productive partnerships.

WHEREAS: New York City and Israel share a deep bond, one strengthened by proud, common traditions of faith, resilience, and generosity.  We increasingly have some other things in common as well.  Through programs such as the NYC Economic Development Corporation’s “Israel to NYC” initiative, Israeli entrepreneurs are learning that when the time comes to expand overseas, New York is the perfect place to do it.  Topics from cut and clarity to international commerce are on the agenda for this week, and we look forward to the DDC’s guests enjoying our city’s world-famous hospitality, energy and brilliance.

NOW THEREFORE, I, Michael R. Bloomberg, Mayor of the City of New York, in recognition of this important industry event, and in appreciation for the professionals who keep our city’s “Diamond District” thriving, do hereby proclaim November 11 to 14, 2013 in the City of New York as:

“Israel Diamond Exchange and Diamond Dealers Club Week”

Signed
Michael R. Bloomberg
Mayor
