Christie's to Hold Magnificent Jewels Sale Dec. 10

RAPAPORT... Christie’s New York scheduled a magnificent jewels sale for December 10 at Rockefeller Center that includes 500 lots and features important colored and colorless diamonds, rare gemstones, signed jewels and natural pearls, with a presale total in excess of $45 million.

The top lot of the sale (pictured) is a 52.58-carat, D, internally flawless, rectangular-cut Golconda diamond, which Christie's confirmed to exhibit superior polish and luminance, luster and distinct brilliance. This diamond is estimate to sell for $9.5 million to $12.5 million. christies jewels

Rahul Kadakia, the head of jewelry for Christie’s Americas and Switzerland, said, “Beginning with the historic sale of the 'Princie Diamond' in New York in April to 'The Orange' in Geneva this November, collectors worldwide paid record prices to acquire the rarest and finest gemstones that appeared on the auction block. On December 10, our team of specialists looks forward to offering collectors yet another opportunity to participate in a wonderfully curated sale.”

Christie's offers four Leviev designs from a private collection, including a 26.72-carat, D, internally flawless, cushion‐cut diamond and platinum ring, flanked on either side by a shield-shaped diamond. The ring is estimated to sell for between $4 million and $6 million.  A diamond pendant necklace by Leviev features a 22.12-carat, D, VVS1 pear-shaped central stone to pear‐shaped and oval-cut diamonds of 38.76 total carat weight and is expected to sell for $2.5 million to $3.5 million.  Other pieces from the collection include  a diamond bracelet set with 88 rectangular-shaped diamonds and a pair of pear-shaped ear pendants.

jewelry, owlThe December sale also includes jewels from the property of Marion Rumsey Cartier, whose father, Pierre Cartier, was one of the three legendary Cartier brothers. Proceeds from the sale of these diamonds, pearls and rubies will support the preservation of her manuscripts and other valuable projects at Saint Louis University. Christie’s will offer an exceptional four‐strand natural pearl and diamond necklace as well as jewels from the estates of  Mary Duke Biddle Trent Semans and the Honorable Noreen Stonor Drexel.
