RAPAPORT... Petra Diamonds Ltd. sold a 126.40-carat rough diamond for $8.52 million, or $67,405 per carat, along with a 91.50-carat rough stone for $3.78 million, or $41,311 per carat, during a special tender this month. Petra recovered the two exceptional diamonds in November.  In addition to these two stones, Petra reported that it recorded solid prices at the December tender but provided no further details.

Petra intends to publish a trade update on January 28 for the six-month period that ends on December 31.

Johan Dippenaar, the CEO of Petra, said, "These solid prices achieved for the two special Cullinan stones as well as for the balance of Petra's recent tender are very encouraging and reaffirm Petra's view that firmer market conditions will continue into the second half of fiscal year 2014."
