Press Release: The Beurs voor Diamanthandel’s third edition of the Antwerp Diamond Manufacturers and Traders Fair “Antwerp Meets Antwerp” was opened this morning by the Belgian representative of ALROSA, Sergey Panchekhin. ALROSA, the world’s largest diamond producer, continues to expand its activities in Antwerp in recognition of the vibrancy and placing power of Antwerp’s diamond companies.  In his remarks, Panchekhin paid tribute to the role of Antwerp and commended the rising number of initiatives and trade support being seen in Antwerp, which pointed to a positive future. With over 70 diamond companies participating in ''Antwerp Meets Antwerp,'' there was a very wide range of polished diamonds on display. A great deal of interest and active buying started from the first ring of the trading bell. Sometimes frantic trading marked the day with some buyers boosting stocks ahead of the Hong Kong show and others buying ahead of expected demand, benefiting from Antwerp’s huge stock and extremely competitive prices. On behalf of the board of the Beurs, its president Marcel Pruwer announced a growing number of trade promotion initiatives, both in Antwerp and abroad, as well as educational programs and workshops. On March 21, in conjunction with the Antwerp Management School, the Beurs voor Diamanthandel hosts a workshop “The Urban Legend of Generation Y,” which will provide insights and knowledge into the practice of management, leadership and business for Generation Y.
