Press Release: The JA New York Show has announced that applications are now being accepted for the coveted new designer gallery at the upcoming summer show, which will take place July 27 through 29 at the Jacob Javits Center.

“The JA New York show is committed to uncovering talent in the design community and providing our retailers with access to these rising stars,” said Drew Lawsky, the show director for the JA New York Shows. “By underwriting the price of the exhibition space, as well as providing various promotional opportunities, the new designer gallery will support these emerging designers’ entrée into our industry.”

Since its inception in 1977, when the jewelry designer movement was in its infancy, the new designer gallery has been lauded as the “birthplace of the American designer movement.” The gallery has launched hundreds of designers over the past 37 years, starting with David Yurman and including well-known talents like Alex Sepkus, Steven Kretchmer, Penny Preville, Paul Morelli, Steven Lagos, Stephen Dweck, Mark Schneider, K. Brunini, and Joseph Murray to name just a few.

The new designer gallery is eligible to all designers who have not yet exhibited at a fine jewelry trade show. The 10 chosen applicants, who will be selected from a wide pool of designers, will receive a turnkey space in the custom-designed gallery, which has recently undergone a dramatic redesign. During the show, one designer will be voted “New Designer of the Year” by an anonymous panel of editors, retailers and industry experts. The 10 designers will be promoted to the media via the shows’ public relations team and will be featured in all show promotional vehicles, on the show’s website and on NationalJeweler.com.

The deadline for applications is May 1, 2014.  For more information please contact Cindy Edelstein, the new designer gallery consultant, at cindyedelstein-at-aol.com.
