RAPAPORT... Jewelers of America (JA) will present professional seminars on July 26 and 27 during the JA New York summer show at Javits Center that are designed to help retailers focus their strategic marketing plans on millennials, learn about the ethics of lab-grown diamonds versus naturally mined stones, improve business profitability and discover the latest jewelry fashion trends, among other topics. JA said the highlight of the program will be "Breakfast with Ben," a keynote presentation on "understanding the millennial consumer" by Ben Smithee, the chief strategy officer at RELEVENTS, on July 27 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Smithee said, “I can’t wait to speak to the JA New York audience about the changing face of retail, consumerism and marketing. The millennial consumer is creating an impact greater than any previous generation -- when it comes to brand advocacy, commerce and luxury.” Smithee added that millennials' impact on generation-X and the baby boomers is equally as important. "The face of retail, ecommerce and marketing is rapidly changing and creating new opportunities for the jewelry industry.” Drew Lawsky, the group show director for JA New York Shows, said, “We are proud to partner with Jewelers of America in providing a robust education agenda as well as exceptional keynote speakers. The topics covered in the panels, lectures and presentations at the upcoming summer show are certain to resonate with both exhibitors and attendees and we're so thrilled to be able to offer these important resources to our community.” In addition, JA and JA New York will host the "Wear One Cocktail Party" on July 26, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., to celebrate jewelry and the inspiration behind showpiece collections. Over cocktails and bites at Casa Nonna Restaurant, invite-only attendees can view select designers wearing their favorite pieces and hear about their design inspiration. Participating designers include Drukker Designs, Laurence Bruyninckx, Leo Ingwer, Lika Behar, Orlanda Olsen, TAKAT and ZAIKEN.
