RAPAPORT... U.K. auctioneer Fellows will offer a brooch dating from the American
Civil War at an auction of antique and modern jewelry.
The brooch, estimated at $1,784 (GBP
1,200) to $2,677, is believed to have been gifted to Ellen Stuart by her husband
General Robert Stuart, who fought in the war of 1861 to 1865, according to a
Fellows statement December 22. It features a large oval-shape aquamarine set in
an 18-karat gold border. A personal engraving on the reverse reads, “To Ellen
Stuart, from General Robert Stuart.”
A
6.15-carat diamond with a European Diamond Report stating the gem is F-G color
and SI clarity will also be under the hammer at the event in Birmingham on January 14, estimated at $37,268 to
$67,082.
A ring made up of five diamonds, with
a central stone weighing 2.39 carats with H color and SI1 clarity, is also up
for auction valued at $8,944 to $11,896.
Separately,
the auctioneer will offer an Art Deco platinum single-stone ring with a central
2.20-carat diamond with G color and VS2 clarity has been estimated at $17,888
to $26,833.
Fellows will also auction a range of
designer pieces by Tiffany & Co., Cartier, Links of London and Bulgari, according
to the statement.
