RAPAPORT... Israel Diamond Exchange president Yoram Dvash signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with his counterpart at the Jewellery Manufacturers Association of Hong Kong, Adam Lau, to increase cooperation between the two organizations.

The MoU was signed at the IDE trading hall during the sixth edition of International Diamond Week in Israel, which ends today (February 18). It acknowledges a shared desire to strengthen relations between the bodies and transactions among members, the IDE said in a statement February 17.

“We have agreed to cooperate in mutual activities in China and Southeast Asia, to hold periodic consultations in order to raise issues of common interest to both parties, in order to strengthen the commercial relationship between the parties," the IDE statement said.

International Diamond Week also saw the opening of the Diamond Technology Zone in the IDE by Nobel Prize winner Professor Dan Shechtman, as well as the launch of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) laboratory in Israel in the presence of GIA president and chief executive officer Susan Jacques.
