RAPAPORT... Firestone Diamonds said the Liqhobong Diamond Mine in Lesotho is on track for production to start in the fourth quarter, with plans in place to recover 1 million carats per year.

The project was 68-percent complete as of the end of February and remains on budget, the diamond development company said in a statement March 16. Firestone also reported its loss grew 2.5 percent year on year to $4.6 million in the six months to December 31.

“The six months to 31 December saw substantial development at Liqhobong and importantly, we have continued this into 2016,” said Stuart Brown, Firestone’s chief executive officer.

“2016 will be an exciting year for the company as we make our way to our goal of initial production in the fourth quarter and to becoming a leading mid-tier diamond miner, recovering one million carats per annum."
