RAPAPORT... Antwerp will get a new exhibition targeting the trade,
with a “single-minded” focus on diamond and diamond jewelry products.
The fair, known as CARAT+, will be aimed at the entire
industry from miners to retailers, according to its organizer, Easyfairs, the
events division of Brussels-based Artexis Easyfairs. The company is positioning
the show as “the world’s premier diamond event."
The first edition is scheduled to run from February 5 to 8,
2017, at the company’s Antwerp Expo. The event has already received the support
of a number of leading international diamond companies, Easyfairs said.
“We have a strong presence in Antwerp, the world’s most
important diamond center, and so it was only logical that we created CARAT+,”
said Dirk Oosterlinck, head of Easyfairs Belgium.
Separately, the organizers of the Antwerp Diamond Trade Fair
announced the 8th edition of their show will run from January 29 to 31, 2017,
under the new name ‘BrilliAnt.’ The exhibition will once again take place in
the Antwerp bourses.
