RAPAPORT... A Harry Winston engagement ring once owned by Donald Trump sold for $300,000 at an auction in New York last week, Forbes.com reported.

The emerald-cut, 7.45-carat diamond ring went to a private collector whose name was not disclosed, according to the report. The selling price translates to $40,268 per carat.

Joseph DuMouchelle, the Birmingham, Michigan-based auction house that sold the ring, had estimated it would fetch $300,000 to $350,000.

Trump, the presumptive Republican Party candidate in the U.S. presidential elections this November, proposed to Marla Maples with the ring in 1991. Maples sold it for $110,000 in June 2000 through the same auctioneer after their divorce in 1999.
