RAPAPORT... Germany’s Designer Diamonds has become the first retail
jeweler in Europe to join the World Diamond Mark (WDM) Authorised Diamond
Dealer program.
The company specializes in engagement and wedding rings,
operating a store at its headquarters in Munich and two in Augsburg, all in
Bavaria.
WDM membership will help the company to “tell the diamond’s
story” and “achieve higher and more profitable diamond sales,” said Christopher
Zoettl, the retailer’s general manager (pictured).
"Munich is among southern Germany's most important
business centers, with a large, well-to-do middle class,” Zoettl added.
European consumers are “demanding” about originality of
design and quality of jewelry, said Krisztina Kalman-Schueler, the WDM’s
program director. Customers’ “absolute need for transparency and proof of
provenance” means retailers need up-to-date information and sales tools, she
said.
