RAPAPORT... Emerald-shape diamonds have limited popularity among people seeking an engagement ring, according to the latest survey by The Wedding Report.

Some 38.3 percent of the respondents would avoid the style, according to the poll of couples visiting costofwedding.com between July 1 and July 20 and an email survey. In contrast, 26.7 percent said they “love” the emerald cut and 5.8 percent said it would be too hard to pair it with a wedding band.

“It may be too hard for emerald-shaped rings to compete with those stunning solitaires and halo rings with their vintage appeal and frequent showings in engagement rings of the stars,” the report said. “But they’re out there, still loved by brides who prefer this boxy shape.”
