RAPAPORT... Alrosa president Sergey Ivanov has joined the board of the
Diamond Producers Association (DPA), the Russian miner said Monday.
Ivanov will join CEOs and other senior executives from major
diamond-mining companies on the board, taking the place that former Alrosa vice
president Andrey Polyakov held until July before leaving the company. The DPA,
of which Alrosa is a founding member, comprises seven leading diamond producers
with the aim of promoting diamonds generically.
“Strengthening…demand for jewelry with diamonds, and
reinstating the diamond as an emotional symbol, is necessary for a stable
existence and the development of our industry,” Ivanov said.
