Dubai Diamond Exchange Elects Board

RAPAPORT... The Dubai Diamond Exchange (DDE) has elected a new board of directors, featuring a range of professionals from across the industry, the bourse said Monday.

New members include Amit Dhamani, CEO of Dhamani Jewels; Davy Blommaert, the diamond-and-metals chief at the National Bank of Fujairah; and Gautam Sashittal, CEO of the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC). Ahmed Bin Sulayem will continue to head the board as chairman of the DDE, having taken over from Peter Meeus earlier this year.

“We welcome the newly [elected] board of directors to the DDE, who will bring in fresh views and expertise to further boost our key strategic goals, particularly around rough and polished diamond tenders, to elevate our diamond marketplace for the benefit of Dubai and the industry worldwide,” Bin Sulayem said.

The new board members are:

Amit Dhamani, CEO of Dhamani Jewels
Davy Blommaert, unit head for precious metals and diamonds at the National Bank of Fujairah
Gautam Sashittal, CEO of the DMCC
Maryam Al Hashemi, director of the United Arab Emirates Kimberley Process office
Mike Aggett, general manager of Trans Atlantic Gem Sales
Rihen Mehta, chairman of 7Cs Group
Sanjeev Dutta, executive director of commodities for the DMCC
