RAPAPORT... Sam Ziefer, a veteran of the jewelry industry with 50 years of experience, has joined auction house Fortuna as executive vice president of business development.

He will focus on building strategic partnerships for the New York-based company and strengthening its market position across the US, it said Monday. Fortuna specializes in auctions of jewelry and watches, and is planning “rapid growth in 2019 and beyond.”

Ziefer was most recently vice president of sales at White Pine Trading, which deals in recycled diamonds, jewelry and watches. He previously led the retail division at Circa, a buyer of pre-owned jewelry.

“It is an exciting time to join Fortuna,” Ziefer said. “I’ve been in this industry for a long time, and Fortuna is a breath of fresh air...It’s the right time to expand, and I’m proud to be part of it.”
