RAPAPORT... A fancy-vivid-blue diamond ring with a high estimate of $7.5
million will go under the hammer at Christie’s Magnificent Jewels auction in
Hong Kong later this month.
The piece, designed by Moussaieff, contains a square-emerald cut, 3.24-carat, internally flawless center stone surrounded by pink diamonds.
Another
prominent lot featured in the November 26 sale is a jadeite bead and spinel
necklace. Named the Heavenly Twins, because the 68 beads were perfectly matched
from two different rough stones, it is expected to fetch $7 million to $11
million.
Christie’s will also offer earrings featuring two pear-shaped, D-color, internally
flawless, type IIa diamonds, weighing 17.62 and 17.01 carats. The piece carries a presale estimate of $2.8 million to $3.8 million. A 16.04-carat
Kashmir sapphire ring by Tiffany & Co. is valued at $1.6 million to $2.3
million.
Other notable items include a pair of fancy-vivid-yellow
diamond earrings weighing more than 8 carats each, valued at $1.1 million to
$1.5 million, and a natural pearl, pink diamond and diamond collection, which
includes a necklace, bracelet, ring and earrings. The set has an estimate of $1
million to $1.5 million.
Meanwhile, a Bulgari Burmese and Ceylon natural sapphire and
moonstone jewelry set is expected to bring in $800,000 to $1.2 million.
Highlights from the collection will be on display at the Hong
Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from November 22 to 25, prior to the
sale.
