Tiffany & Co. has appointed former Barneys New York CEO Daniella Vitale as executive vice president and chief brand officer, a newly created role that combines merchandising and marketing.

Vitale left the department store earlier this month, after it filed for bankruptcy and subsequently sold to Authentic Brands Group.

“In her time at Barneys, Daniella was an arbiter of what’s on trend,” Tiffany CEO Alessandro Bogliolo wrote in an internal letter the jeweler sent to its employees Wednesday, which Rapaport News obtained.

Vitale will start her new role on December 1, the report continued.

Note: This story has been updated to reflect a confirmation about the appointment by Tiffany & Co. The original story was reported citing Bloomberg.
