RAPAPORT... A jadeite bead and spinel necklace was the top lot at Christie’s Hong Kong sale Tuesday, fetching HKD 73.6 million ($9.4 million).

The necklace is named the Heavenly Harmony because its 68 jadeite beads are perfectly matched from two different rough stones. It was estimated at $7 million to $11 million at the Magnificent Jewels auction. The entire sale brought in HKD 396.5 million ($50.6 million).

Another prominent lot was a ring by Moussaieff featuring a square emerald-cut, 3.24-carat, fancy-vivid-blue, internally flawless center stone surrounded by pink diamonds. The piece garnered HKD 53.7 million ($6.9 million) against a high estimate of $7.5 million.

A pair of earrings featuring two pear-shaped, D-color, internally flawless, type IIa diamonds, weighing 17.62 and 17.01 carats, sold for HKD 31.3 million ($4 million), beating its high estimate of $3.8 million, while a Harry Winston jewel fetched just over its low estimate. The round brilliant-cut, 18.50-carat, D-color, internally flawless diamond necklace went for HKD 19.6 million ($2.5 million) against a presale low estimate of HKD 19.5 million ($2.5 million).

Other notable items included a natural-pearl, pink-diamond and white-diamond jewelry set by Cartier. The collection, which contains earrings, a necklace, a ring and a bracelet, brought in HKD 10.9 million ($1.4 million), at the upper end of its HKD 8 million to HKD 12 million ($1 million to $1.5 million) estimate. Meanwhile, a pear modified brilliant-cut, 2.76-carat, fancy-intense-purple-pink diamond ring, flanked by pear-shaped diamonds, went for HKD 9.6 million ($1.2 million), against a low estimate of HKD 9.5 million ($1.2 million).
