RAPAPORT... The Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC) has reshuffled its leadership team, with president Nishit Parikh retiring and six new members joining the board.

Parikh, the CEO of Diarough, chose not to run again following two years in the position, the AWDC said Thursday. The Belgian organization will elect a new president from among its members.

Meanwhile, the AWDC held “Covid-19-safe” elections for other board positions at its premises earlier this week, the organization noted.

Sahag Arslanian of Arslanian Group and Isi Morsel of Dali Diamond Company were elected unopposed as directors representing businesses with annual revenue above EUR 100 million (about $117.5 million). Jay Mehta of J.N. Diamonds and David Gotlib of IDRP were successful in the category for companies with revenues between EUR 30 million ($35.3 million) and EUR 100 million. For the sub-EUR 30 million category, the winning candidates were Lalit Kumar Nahata of Nahata Lalit and Amish Jain of N.N. Diamonds.

Chaim Pluczenik, Michel Nasielski and Philip Hoymans will remain as directors representing the diamond bourses until the next elections in 2022. Martine Reynaers will continue as an independent director for the same period.

Parikh will exit the AWDC board, having served on it for four years. Other outgoing members are Vimal Lakhani, Rajiv Kothari, Chetan Shah, Samir Mehta and Jacques Weisz.
