RAPAPORT... Nadja Swarovski will leave Swarovski to pursue other interests after 26 years with the company, becoming the latest family member to step down from the crystal giant.

“I am deeply grateful for the experience of working in my family’s business and in particular very closely with my father, Helmut Swarovski, who taught me so much,” she said Monday. “My time at Swarovski...has been the most rewarding journey.”

Swarovski joined the company in 1995, becoming the first female member of its executive board. She was largely viewed as the face of the brand, forming collaborations with leading figures in fashion, jewelry, design and architecture, as well as with stage and screen celebrities.

In 2007, she set up Atelier Swarovski, a line encompassing fashion, sustainably crafted jewelry, accessories, and home decor. She also oversaw the company’s implementation of lab-grown diamonds. In 2013, she established the Swarovski Foundation, the company’s charitable arm. She will remain chair emeritus of that operation.

“Nadja [made an] indelible imprint on the business,” said Luisa Delgado, chair of the board of directors of Swarovski International. “Her contribution over the years has been decisive in bringing Swarovski to the forefront of the fashion industry. This will remain her legacy to Swarovski.”

The news comes amid ongoing upheaval within the company. Last year, Robert Buchbauer, the great-great grandson of founder Daniel Swarovski, took over as CEO, while Nadja removed herself from involvement in daily operations. After culling 600 positions within the company, Buchbauer left in October along with Mathias Margreiter, another relative, and Swarovski announced it was looking for executives outside the family to take their place.

Swarovski will exit her role at the end of December.
