Bonhams has bought three auction houses in the US, Sweden and Denmark this year, as it looks to broaden its global footprint and digital network.

The company purchased US-based Skinner — which has locations in Boston and Marlborough, Massachusetts — and will rename that business Bonhams Skinner, it said last week. Skinner holds about 80 sales a year in categories including fine art, wine and jewelry.

“Skinner is such an iconic presence in New England,” said Bonhams CEO Bruno Vinciguerra. “It also has a well-established digital footprint throughout North America that complements Bonhams’ presence, which will allow both companies to reach more consignors and buyers.”

In addition to Skinner, Bonhams also bought leading Denmark-based auction house Bruun Rasmussen this month. The company conducts live auctions of furniture, paintings, silver, coins, and other items in Copenhagen, as well as through online sales.

“The addition of Bruun Rasmussen will enhance Bonhams’ European scale and increase digital capabilities to support further outreach across the Bonhams network,” Vinciguerra added.

Both acquisitions follow that of Stockholm-based auction house Bukowskis in January. Bonhams did not disclose the financial details of any of the deals.
