Judge Sentences Ortiz to 6yrs for Betteridge Jewelers Robbery

RAPAPORT... Eric Ortiz, 36, was sentenced to six years in prison for his role in a $4.7 million robbery at Betteridge Jewelers in Greenwich, Connecticut. Ortiz's brother, Ernesto, pled guilty and awaits sentencing.

A federal judge sentenced Eric for creating a diversion during the armed robbery, which was carried out by Charles Kertesz, by setting a car on fire at the scene of the crime.

Kertesz is serving 21 and one-half years for robberies at Betteridge and three other stores.
