RAPAPORT... Nearly all the retailers are pushing diamonds for Valentine's Day, but Cash for Diamonds has a different message for U.S. consumers. If you are not happy with diamonds from the past, trade them in for cash.

So, the trading firm, which is affiliated with Cash for Gold under parent company  CJ Environmental Inc., points the jilted to its website to learn about selling their diamonds in order to turn "V-Day into Me-Day."

"Cash for Diamonds USA understands that diamonds, even with negative connotations, have value," said Norm Schneider, president of CJ Environmental.

Cash for Gold played-off the idea too by promoting  a "funny Valentine's Day" commercial on YouTube to show shoppers just how they can cash out their unwanted gold and silver gifts in order to buy something else.

"But hanging on to old painful memories is not as fun as making new ones. Sell the diamonds or gold jewelry, take the cash and buy yourself something nice," according to the company's new promotion.
