Christie's NY Hosts Magnificent Jewels Sale on April 12

Auction Features Large Colored Diamonds

RAPAPORT... Christie’s New York will hold its  Magnificent Jewels sale on April 12, featuring an exceptional line-up of top-quality fancy colored diamonds in shades of pink, blue and yellow. The highlight of this sale will undoubtedly be a 10.09-carat,  fancy vivid purple-pink diamond ring (pictured below) with a presale estimate of $12 million to $15 million.  Christie's will auction a 37.16-carat, D, internally flawless rectangular-cut diamond ring that is flanked on either side by three graduated baguette-cut diamonds and mounted in platinum and has a presale estimate of $4.2 million to $4.8 million. One 3.25-carat fancy vivid blue, square emerald-cut diamond is also featured with a presale estimate of $2 million to $3 million.

million dollar diamondsOther top lots include a 50.29-carat, fancy vivid yellow diamond ring by Carvin French and a 3.25-carat fancy vivid blue diamond,  both carry a presale estimate of $2 million to $3 million.

Rahul Kadakia, head of jewelry at Christie's New York, said, ''Demand for large colored diamonds from connoisseurs and investors continues to reach new heights, and we look forward to starting the spring season with this exceptional group of top colored diamonds, curated with the specific desires of today's collectors in mind.''

With nearly 300 individual items on offer, Christie's sale  will offer a full array of precious gemstones, period jewels and signed creations from the leading jewelry houses. Highlights from the antique jewelry section will include a platinum v-shaped diamond necklace (pictured), 120-total-carat-weight, with the front set with a pear-shaped diamond, weighing approximately 4.07-carat  and additional diamonds weighing 1.74 to 4.07 carats. diamond necklaceOther antique pieces will include an old mine-cut diamond brooch, suspending three detachable old mine-cut diamonds from a diamond-set trellis panel with central old mine-cut diamond circa 1860, and an antique peridot and diamond necklace, circa 1870, featuring a graduated series of rectangular-cut peridots, each within a diamond scalloped surround, suspending a series of detachable peridot pendants.

Christie's will offer a suite of Colombian emerald and diamond jewels, by Van Cleef & Arpels, that includes an  emerald and diamond necklace, a pear-shaped emerald and diamond pendant brooch and a pair of pear-shaped emerald and diamond ear pendants.
