RAPAPORT... Pure Gold Jewellers created three special edition diamond pendants engraved with the words 'Allah' in Arabic to mark Ramadan, which begins on August 1.  The Ramadan 2011 pendant collection is available in various sizes, diamond weights and prices from all Pure Gold Jewellers outlets this month in the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar and Oman.

One pendant  is a crescent shape, signifying the moon and the beginning of Ramadan, another is a heart-shape to celebrate loved ones,  and both are encrusted with diamonds. The third shape is more abstract and  adorned with diamonds and semi-precious colored stones.

"Ramadan is a time for reflection and prayer as one tries to seek the true rewards of Allah the almighty. Our new Ramadan pendant collection with the words 'Allah' engraved on each piece, is a gift for all times and especially meaningful during the holy month," said Karim Merchant, the managing director of Pure Gold Jewellers.

The retailer also launched a charity initiative from August 1 through September 5 with Red Crescent Society  using  Facebook.  When  Pure Gold Jewellers' Facebook page receives a 'like' from a new fan, the retailer will donate  AED 10 (about $2.70) to Red Crescent Society.

"We are delighted to offer our customers the choice of a truly Islamic gift they can purchase for themselves, their friends, family and loved ones during Ramadan," Merchant said.
