RAPAPORT... ABC World News with Diane Sawyer is challenging U.S. consumers to support national businesses by spending "just $64" on Christmas gifts that are made in the U.S.A. The effort could result in 200,000 new jobs, according to the program. The effort "Made in America Christmas: Are you in?" lists 17 jewelers that create their pieces here at home, including Carolyn Pollack Jewelry and the James Avery store chain.
Carolyn Pollack Jewelry created an entire line of sterling silver jewelry items priced at $64, specifically for this program.
"We are truly American from design through creation," said Carolyn Pollack, the vice president and designer of Carolyn Pollack Jewelry. "Not only is our jewelry made in America, it is also inspired by the beauty of American landscapes and the spirit of the American people. I am so proud to be part of this family of talented American craftspeople who draw inspiration from the beauty of our great country and put their heart into each piece they so lovingly craft here in our Albuquerque design and production studio."
Additionally, employees of Pollack's parent company, Relios Inc., voluntarily signed the pledge to spend at least $64 on U.S-made products this Christmas season.
Other jewelers on the ABC News list include: Alex and Ani; Beatrixbell Handcrafted Jewelry; She Beads, He Beads, Intention Beads; Studio Jewel; Kabana; Dogeared Jewelry; Random Balance Jewelry; Stuart Nye Jewelry; Vintage Pearl; Dogeared Jewelry; American Made Beautiful; Rearden Metal Bracelet; Decker Jewelry; Alex and Ani Bracelets and Liztech Jewelry.
