Israel’s Harry Oppenheimer Diamond Museum has launched its latest exhibition entitled ''Chains of Silver.'' The display showcases pieces in sterling silver by silversmith Mauriciu Samuel and Judaica artist Itzhak Luvaton.

“The exhibit is somewhat different from earlier exhibits we have had at the Harry Oppenheimer Diamond Museum,” said Yair Sahar, the chairman of the museum and president of the Israel Diamond Exchange. “Whereas the previous ones mainly featured diamonds and fine jewelry that decorate and adorn the human body, this exhibit deals with glorifying the human soul.”

The exhibit follows the Judaica theme featuring items used in Jewish rituals such as the candelabra or holy Jewish sites such as the western Wall, all handmade from sterling silver. A second dimension includes items that at first glance lack the Jewish context, such as a motorcycle with sidecar or a tank, but which contain Jewish symbols hidden within.

Yehuda Kassif explains in the video that the inspiration for creating these items was found in the expression, ''the hidden is greater than the obvious'' that prevails in many spiritual philosophies. “A true work of art is a work with many layers and deep roots that imbibe from the wellsprings of human culture,” Kassif said. “In viewing such work, the viewer will always find a new aspect that he didn’t notice at first or second glance.”
