Press Release: The Canadian Jewellers Association (CJA) appointed Kim Markwart as its chairman of the board for the 2012 to 2013 term.
Markwart is the owner/manager of Markwart Jewellers Ltd., along with her husband Trent. Markwart Jewellers is located in northeastern Saskatchewan and was established in 1960 by Trent’s parents, the late Ernest and Irene Markwart. Ernie and Irene founded their business on honesty, integrity and excellence in customer service. 
Kim was born and raised in Saskatchewan, and after obtaining a degree in economics from the University of Regina, Luther College, she married Trent. Kim began helping her husband during peak seasons and eventually impressed her boss so much that she was hired full-time. Trent and Kim then purchased the remaining shares in Markwart Jewellers Ltd. and became business partners as well.
Kim is involved with all aspects of the business including marketing, sales, purchasing and development. Markwart Jewellers is a proud supporter of the community and supports the Northeast Health Care Initiative, TMSS Scholarship Fund and various groups and organizations. On a local level, Kim has served on the Chamber of Commerce, The United Appeal, Board of Education, Band Parents Association, School Community Association, Football Booster Club and Skate Tisdale.
Kim has three remarkable children ages 15, 12 and 9, who also have a flair for the family business from making bows and boxes to engraving. Kim is passionate about the jewelry industry and feels honored to accept the position of chairman of the CJA.
Under Kim’s leadership, the CJA will continue to bring value to the membership.
