AAI Recognizes Tempelsman as Distinguished Trustee

RAPAPORT... Maurice Tempelsman, the chairman of Lazare Kaplan International received the Africa-America Institute's (AAI) Distinguished Trustee Award for his support  and service as a former member and chair of the board of trusteeslazare kaplan.

The AAI’s 28th annual awards dinner, which was held September 26 at the Grand Hyatt in New York City, is dedicated to advancing education and professional training for Africans and promoting engagement between Africa and the U.S. through education, training and dialogue.

Lazare Kaplan has been a leading sponsor of the AAI, where  Tempelsman has been on the board for five decades, during which time it promoted and financed post-graduate education programs for more than 23,000 African students in the U.S.

In addition to Tempelsman, AAI awarded Her Excellency, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf of Liberia the African National Achievement Award for Literacy to Support Life Skills, and Her Excellency, President Joyce Banda of Malawi received the AAI Award for Championing Women’s Rights and Business Leadership.
