RAPAPORT... Trent West, the owner of nine patents related to the concept and manufacturing of Tungsten Carbide rings in the U.S., has reached a settlement agreement with  DAXX, also known as (aka) Silver Bin. As part of the settlement agreement, DAXX will no longer sell Tungsten Carbide rings and will pay West an undisclosed amount for damages, according to the company's statement.

West has four pending cases against Internet sellers for allegedly distributing and/or selling Tungsten Carbide rings without a license. West identified the defendants as, Ultimate Metals Co., aka Metal Masters Co. of Los Angeles;  Zenga Inc., doing business as King Ice of El Monte, California; Bonndorf and Peora, both of Los Angeles.

According to West's attorney, they are seeking permanent injunction against all defendants from further infringement and monetary damages from alleged infringement.

“We are extremely pleased with the (DAXX) settlement. This settlement is another major development in recognizing the validity of Trent West’s patents and his ability to enforce his rights to protect his patent rights,” said Edward King of King & Kelleher, representing West. “This sends a clear message to violators who infringe on the nine patents covering all Tungsten Carbide rings in the U.S. market.”

West is a developer of a line of Tungsten Carbide-based rings sold commercially in connection with several different trade names.  West  obtained federal trademark registration for the TREW TUNGSTEN® and PERMANENTLY POLISHED® marks, which are used in connection with his Tungsten Carbide rings. West individually owns the rights and is the sole inventor listed on each of his nine patents for Tungsten Carbide rings.
