RAPAPORT... Lucara Diamond Corp.'s second exceptional tender of large stones from its Karowe mine in Botswana achieved $40.1 million.

The tender was held on July 16, with all 16 lots totaling 1,445 carats sold. The company reported that 13 lots achieved over $1 million each, including four stones that achieved in excess of $4 million each.

The top lots were a 109.40-carat diamond that sold for $6.2 million or an average $56,615 per carat and an 118.40-carat diamond that fetched $5.36 million or $45,225 per carat.

Lucara's president and CEO, William Lamb, noted that the company continues to recover exceptional stones from Karowe, all of which continue to yield impressive price results at tenders.

The company expects to hold its next exceptional stone tender early in the fourth quarter and will likely include a 239 carat diamond and a 193 carat diamond that were recovered during the second quarter.
