RAPAPORT... Bonhams Hong Kong will hold a jewelry and jadeite auction on November 26, featuring “A Flawless Collection of Hearts and Arrows Diamonds” set of 16, D, flawless, internally flawless brilliant-cut diamonds that weigh from 1.16 carats to 4.49 carats. Bonhams also described the collection to be of excellent cut, symmetry and polish and most stones are type IIa. The collection has a presale estimate of between $2.2 million to $2.5 million (HKD 17,500,000 to HKD 19,800,000).

The 16 diamonds were collected over time by an Asian private, with the intention of eventually creating a necklace for his wife. However, Bonhams stated that the owner has since left the task to someone who will be able to succeed the dream in order to focus on philanthropic endeavors.  bonhams

Additional highlights from the sale include a 10.54-carat, Burmese ruby and diamond ring along with a magnificent ceylon sapphire and diamond necklace and earring suite, all by Marina B. Bonhams will also auction a jadeite and diamond bead necklace with a presale estimate of $1.8 million and $2 million (HKD 13,800,000 to HKD 15,800,000), among other pieces.

Graeme Thompson, the director of jewelry for Bonhams Asia, said,  "We are delighted to have the opportunity to bring this magnificent collection of hearts and arrows diamonds to Hong Kong.  As far as I know, only three similar collections of diamonds have been offered at auction worldwide in the past seven to 10 years, so this is a chance not to be missed by all diamond buyers and collectors. As a result of fast growing international demand, particularly in Asia, the average price of D color and internally flawless diamonds has increased by approximately 155 percent in the past 10 years and we see no reason why this trend will change.”
