Mountain Province Hires Marketing VP from Rio Tinto

RAPAPORT... Mountain Province Diamonds has hired Reid Mackie as vice president for diamond marketing, the Toronto-based miner said in a statement October 15.
Mackie had been Rio Tinto’s manager for sales and marketing for Argyle Pink Diamonds in Perth, Australia, since 2011. He was responsible for the pricing and sales of all Argyle pink polished diamonds, including for tender sales. He was previously a trader in Antwerp from 1999 to 2010.
Province president and CEO Patrick Evans said Mackie was joining the company as it prepares for the first sales of diamonds from the Gahcho Kué diamond mine [in Canada’s Northwest Territories]. He added that Mackie’s “considerable experience in taking new mine production to the market will benefit Mountain Province greatly.”
