MGJ Conference in Valencia to Focus on Diamond Treatment

RAPAPORT... The Mediterranean Gemmological and Jewellery (MGJ) Conference scheduled for May 7 to 9 in Valencia, Spain, will be focused on diamond treatment.

David Fisher of De Beers Technologies, Dusan Simic of Analytical Gemmology & Jewellery, Sonny Pope of Suncrest Diamonds and Mikko Åström of MAGI will present their respective papers on different aspects of the topic, according to a statement February 1. Other speakers and discussions will cover a range of subjects related to jewelry.

The second edition of the annual conference, which will be held at the Hotel Tryp Valencia Oceanic, is organized by Canadian gem lab CGL-GRS and Greek lab IGL in cooperation with MLLOPIS lab in Spain and the U.S.’s National Association of Jewelry Appraisers. It will be inaugurated by Gaetano Cavalieri, president of CIBJO - The World Jewellery Confederation, who will speak on the organization’s efforts to develop means for accurate disclosure and in doing so protect consumer confidence.
