RAPAPORT... The Jewelers Board of Trade (JBT) said it appointed Anthony Capuano, a 35-year veteran of credit and lending in the gems and precious metals industry and former vice-president at HSBC Bank, as its new president.

Capuano (pictured) was also a senior relationship manager at HSBC responsible for the bank’s New York diamond and jewelry portfolio, according to a statement April 6. He previously held similar positions at Scotia Mocatta, part of Scotiabank, and Bank of America.

Capuano has also served on the JBT’s board for more than 15 years. He replaces Dione Kenyon, who will retire later this spring after helping with the leadership transition.

The search for a president was headed by Todd Wolleman, who was elected chairman of the JBT board in March.
