RAPAPORT... The Alliance for Responsible Mining (ARM) announced Lina
Villa will leave her role as executive director on June 30 after a five-year
stint to “dedicate herself to new professional projects.”
Marcin Piersiak, deputy Director of the ARM, will take over as an
interim executive director July 1. Piersiak has been with the ARM for six years.
Under Piersiak’s leadership, the alliance gained global
recognition for its work, it said. The organisation also developed an international
team of people working to help artisanal and small-scale mining become a “formalized,
organized and profitable” activity that uses efficient technologies and is
socially and environmentally responsible.
