RAPAPORT... Manufacturing Jewelers & Suppliers of America (MJSA) plans to launch a collaborative effort to help its members find “inspiration” and “improve” their business with the help of a jewelry designer community.

The MJSA Designer Collaborative, which will start August 1, will include the “MJSA Jewelry Designer Network” to share information, solicit ideas, and test new business models and opportunities. It will also comprise a quarterly e-newsletter, Design Insights, featuring news as well as pricing strategies from consultant and award-winning author Marlene Richey. Other benefits include access to a members-only online archive of free design-related articles from MJSA Journal.

"Designers are the creative backbone of the jewelry industry, and we want to ensure they have the resources needed to thrive in today's market," said David Cochran, MJSA’s president and chief executive officer. The MJSA appointed Andrea Hill, the owner of Hill Management Group, as its “designer advocate” responsible for ensuring the association addresses designers’ needs.

Other features of the MJSA collaborative effort include a new event called ConFab Creative, which will be held October 30 at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York as part of the MJSA's ConFab conference.

The services are available to all MJSA members free of charge.
