RAPAPORT... Dominion Diamond Corporation’s chief executive officer Brendan Bell will stand down in the wake of the miner’s prospective move to Calgary.

A process to find a new CEO is underway with Bell committing to the role until June 30 to facilitate a smooth transition, the company said.

“The decision to move the corporate offices of Dominion from Yellowknife to Calgary was necessary to reduce operating costs, and is one that I continue to support,” Bell said. “For personal reasons, however, this is not the right move for my family.”

Dominion announced the planned relocation in November anticipating it will be complete by mid-2017. The miner projected the move will result in annual savings of about $14.4 million (CAD 19 million).

Bell joined Dominion in July 2013, becoming acting CEO in November 2014 and was subsequently named CEO in July 2015.
