New York… The Government of Sierra Leone and the Rapaport Group are pleased to
announce the Peace Diamond Press Conference, which will take place over the
internet on Tuesday October 17th at 2:00 pm Sierra Leone time, 10:00
am NY Time. The press conference will provide details about the auction sale of
the 709 carat Peace Diamond including the viewing schedule, auction date and location.
The Peace Diamond, discovered by artisanal
diggers in the village of Koryardu, Sierra Leone is being auctioned through
official government channels. Over 50% of the sale value will directly benefit
the people of Sierra Leone, as well as the village and district where the
diamond was found. It will directly fund clean water, electricity, school,
medical facilities, bridges and roads, none of which are currently available in
Koryardu.
