RAPAPORT... Sarine Technologies will open its first technology lab in Israel in February, offering advanced, automated gem services, the company said Sunday.

The lab will supply services using Sarine’s automated technology for clarity and color grading of polished diamonds, as well as authentication for simulant, natural, synthetic and treated stones. The information will all be integrated into the Sarine Profile digital diamond report.

“In the next several years, we will witness a major shift in how diamonds are graded, and in the way diamonds are presented to the consumer, which will enable diamond products to better compete in the luxury-goods market," said Sarine CEO David Block.

Sarine plans to open a second facility in India in May.
