GEM Awards Honor Ex-Rolex USA Chief

RAPAPORT... Jewelers of America (JA) honored retailers, designers and journalists at Friday’s GEM Awards in New York.

Stewart Wicht, who retired as CEO of Rolex Watch USA in December, picked up the Lifetime Achievement accolade in recognition of his contribution to the industry during his lengthy career at the company. Tiffany & Co. also received an award for its marketing efforts.

The event’s 17th edition took place at Cipriani 42nd Street.

The winners in full were:

GEM Award for Jewelry Design
Winner: Fernando Jorge
Other nominees: Valérie Messika, Silvia Furmanovich

GEM Award for Media Excellence
Winner: Will Kahn of Town & Country
Other nominees: Brecken Branstrator of National Jeweler, Michael Thompson of International Watch

GEM Award for Retail Excellence
Winner: Threads
Other nominees: Broken English, Cellini

GEM Award for Marketing & Communications
Winner: Tiffany & Co.

GEM Award for Lifetime Achievement
